“Mouton-Rothschild seems to have stabilized, producing fine efforts in recent vintages, culminating in the enormously promising, undeniably profound 1995. The 1993 is a beautifully made wine that could be considered a sleeper of the vintage. The wine boasts a deep purple color, followed by a sweet bouquet of toast, roasted nuts and cassis that is just beginning to open up. On the palate, the wine may not have the body and volume of a vintage like 1990 or 1989, but it is richer in fruit, sweeter, riper and purer, and has medium body and exceptional balance. This moderately tannic, well-concentrated, surprisingly rich 1993 is capable of evolving for 15 to 20 years.”
